EAST AURORA, N.Y. (MARCH 25) PRWIRE - Moog Inc. (AMEX: MOG) today announced
that the company has been selected by Hercules Corporation to supply thrust
vector control systems to provide directional control for the U.S. Air Force
Titan IV Expendible Launch Vehicle. Moog has received authorization from
Hercules Corporation, a subcontractor of Martin Marietta Corp.-Denver for this
program, to proceed with development and qualification of production systems
for the Titan IV solid rocket motor upgrade program.
Qualification of Moog hardware for the solid-propellant strap-on boosters of
the Titan IV ELV is expected to occur in 1989. The Air Force currently plans
to purchase 50 Titan IV ELVs to launch satellites and spacecraft, with
procurement over the next five years. Moog expects to sign a contract with
Hercules in the near future for systems with an estimated value of more than
$40 million.
